WWII 1940s ERA ( COCA-COLA MEMBERS IN THE ARMED FORECES ) HAND SEWN AND HAND EMBROIDERED SILK FLAG WITH TASSELS
MEASURES 25" X 38" AND IS TWO LAYERS THICK OF PURE SILK
I purchased this flag from the ( Dawsons & Stevens Coca-Cola Soda Pop Bottle Cap Museum Grayling Michigan ).  I was told by the owner of the museum Bill Gannon that the curator of his museum sent photos of this flag to the curator of the Coca-Cola Museum in Atlanta, Georgia asking them to please appraise the piece.  The response that they received was astonishing as they were told that this piece of Coca-Cola History is "PRICELESS". The story that goes along with this piece is truly amazing... This silk flag was hand made and hand embroidered with 17 stars which was the number of boys which were sent off to fight in World War 2 and each star stood for a specific boy from a specific small town here in the United States.  The town in unknown. Then, this flag was hung in a window so the whole town could see it; If the boy was "Killed In Action" or never made it home, their star would be painted blue.  As you can see, there are a total of 4 stars which are painted blue.  In my opinion, this piece is the "HOLY GRAIL" of WWII Coca-Cola Memorabilia due to the fact that is has such significant War Time History attached to it.  Just the fact that it still exists it truly remarkable!  I would be honored to see it end up in the hands of a collector who truly understands the significance of what this flag stood for.  Someone who will love it and cherish it just as much as I have!!!  My hopes is that it will be framed and added to another museum collection for the whole world to admire...

FAIR ORIGINAL "UNTOUCHED" VINTAGE CONDITION SHOWING VERY HEAVY SIGNS OF USAGE WHICH IS APPROPRIATE WITH THE AGING PROCESS SUCH AS HEAVILY DISTRESSED WEAR, NATURAL PATINA AND VINTAGE CHARACTER!!! THERE ARE A LOT OF STAINS ON THIS PIECE AND A FEW OF THE TASSELS ARE MISSING FROM THE TOP RIGHT HAND CORNER! THERE ARE NO RIPS, NO HOLES AND NO TEARS TO THE SILK MATERIAL!!! IT DOES HAVE A STRONG MILDEW ODOR AS IT HAS NEVER BEEN CLEANED! I AM LEAVING THAT UP TO THE BUYER. NOTHING WHICH A GOOD "DRY - CLEANING" WON'T FIX! OR, YOU CAN LEAVE IT AS/IS AND FRAME IT!!!
