WWI WWII Picket Corkscrew Silent Screw Barbed Wire Fence Post Army Vintage BIN

WWI corkscrew picket made of iron or steel. Approximately 45" tall. Also known as a "silent screw".  They were used in trench warfare to string up barbed wire. They screwed into the ground silently instead of being pounded
which would have alerted the enemy. The four "loops" held the wire. Mostly used in WWI and also in WWII. I'm not sure what age this one is. They are a rare item not many for sale. Bought many years ago from a WWII veteran's estate. This listing is for a 45" tall picket. Very good condition - very light rust. Please see all the photos for more details and information.
