    Description

    WWI Interallied Victory Medal
    United States
    with 18 Navy Bars
Please see photos for condition.  I have come into the possession of a WWI Interallied Victory Medal collection.  I am in the process of selling it for its previous owner.  This is not my area of expertise, so I have consulted the book
World War I Victory Medals with the History of the United States Victory Medal
by James P. Michels Jr.  I am using the terminology used in Michels' book.  Please consult this book for reference.
I will do my best to describe each medal that I place up for auction.  I can provide additional photographs if they are requested.
This collection was displayed in a private home in a custom frame (not included).
I have included an image of the original collection of medals for reference.
To the best of my ability, I have used Michels' book to identify this medal.
    Country: United States
    Ribbon: replaced
This medal has 18 Navy bars/clasps on it.  Thanks to Michels' book, I have determined that 6 of the bars are "authorized and issued" and that 12 of the bars are "not authorized or issued".
All of the rope sections were counted, recorded, then compared to the information supplied in Michels' book.  The following information contains the results of this effort:

    MALTESE CROSS

The person who obtained these bars collected them over a long period of time and then had this assembly created.  It was used as the centerpiece of his WWI Interallied Victory Medal collection as shown in the last picture above.
Most of the bars were purchased with the understanding by the buyer from the seller that they were original.  Using the information in Michels' book, I believe that I have properly identified that six of the eighteen bars are genuine.
Please view all of the images and assess for yourself which of the bars are original and which are reproduction.
This collection of 18 Navy bars makes for an impressive display piece and took many years to assemble.
The asking price has been reduced at the original owner's request.
