Description
My wife is 77. Her family has a long history of working in ship yards along the east coast. This notebook was made by her great grand father who was working at the Camden NJ shipyard during WW1. He also occasionally worked at the Philadelphia and Hampton Yards shipyards during that time. This project notebook is pretty much dedicated to the details of work done on the USS Mississippi, but the USS Vermont and New York are also mentioned. The book is made up of 152 prenumbered 8" X 13 1/2 " pages . Over 50 of them contain written details (including formulas, drawings, etc.) of what needs to be done and how. Additionally, there are a dozen typewritten carbon copies inserted in specific places in the book. I did not copy any of the typewritten pages because they are, as I said earlier carbon copies and are on very thin paper and would not copy to where they could be read. Plus, they are somehow bound in the book's spine along with the book's pages.. If you win this auction and wonder when you receive the package, why it was opened and re sealed, it's because I forgot the number of pages etc. after I packed it up, and before I wrote the above description. ( I'm old and can forget things in minutes). The spine of this booklet shows a lot of wear and tear, but all pages are still intact and well fastened in it.Thank you for your interest in this historic (and I assume one of a kind) Navy relic.
