Stanley  2101A 8" Bell System Hand Brace  Well Cared For    Excellent Condition
This heavy duty 2101A hand brace was manufactured by the Stanley Tool Co. and is their later version of the North Brothers Tool Co. Yankee 2101 and was issued and used by Bell Telephone installers and lineman before the widespread introduction of power tools.  The 2101A is considered by many to be the best heavy duty hand brace made in America and this is a great very lightly used and refurbished example of this great brace. This is a brace with the less common  8" swing that makes it a great all around brace and speed handle.
The chuck and ratcheting mechanism on this brace has been disassembled,
checked for damage, and then
cleaned and lubricated.  It  operates like a new one, solid and smooth. The ratchet selecting and reversing mechanism is like new and works like the tumblers on a safe when it operates.
The ratchet and chuck both work as they should with a very smooth ratcheting action in either direction selected.  Placing the selector in the middle position locks the chuck and stops the ratchet action. The chuck jaws are undamaged and work perfectly.
The Stanley 2101A is a very rugged reliable brace.
Like the chuck assembly the top ball bearing supported pad has been disassembled, cleaned, and lubricated.  It works like new.(see pictures)  The to
p pad and side handle are in near new condition with very minor signs of light use(see pictures) and are in great shape.(see pictures)
This brace is a great condition Stanley Tool and would be an excellent addition to a manual tool collection or an excellent user.
If you will put two or three drops of oil in the oil ports once a year or so, this brace will still be working for another 70+ years.
This brace's chuck will work with older square shank bits as well as modern round bits.
