    Description

Scarce Dutch Model 1871 Bayonet for the Beaumont Rifle.  Bayonet measures 23" overall with a quadrangular blade length of 20.25".  Overall excellent with some light age patina, wear.  The locking ring has two screws for tightening/adjusting.  Some books say this is a first pattern, but I have other books that say the opposite. Personally, I think it is the First Pattern.  The other pattern has just one screw on the locking spring.  Sharp markings on the neck and socket: Two Cartouches on right side of neck.  Right side of socket marked, "B949". See photos for further details, clarification, and condition.  A beauty.
