    Description

    This is a relatively rare Belgian WW1 veteran commemorative medal known as the fire cross, issued in 1934.  The fire cross keeps within the tradition of the phenomenal artwork represented on the Belgian WW1 medals and is what makes Belgian and Italian WW1 medals so collectible.  The face of the medal is detailed with a cannon, the iconic Belgian helmet on a sword and a sunburst in the corner.  On the back side is the Belgian crown and Latin inscription.  The artist's name appears on the back side "Rombaut." The medal and ribbon are in excellent condition and include what is likely the original box.  Hand picked at a Belgian market years ago.
