This is an
ORIGINAL WORLD II LAST DITCH TYPE 30 JAPANESE ARISAKA BAYONET & SCABBARD
. (Inv. no. 0624) It is about 19 3/4 inches long with a 15 3/8 inch unfullered blade. This was for model 1897 (type 20) 1905 (Type39) 1939 (type 99) Arisaka rifle and carbine. It was a late WWII “LAST DITCH” bayonet. It is marked with an arsenal mark of Matsusita Kinzoku on the ricasso. The end of the pommel is marked ?? 02838 . The bayonet and scabbard are in good to very good condition with some signs of age and use nicks and dings to blade and grips. The scabbard has a crack on bottom and a dent. This is outside my area of collecting and expertise and I have relied on references books and the internet. Please email any questions. Starting price is .95. Shipping weight is 3 pounds 8 ounces.
