    Description

Up for sale is an outstanding "blank" Iron Pontiled, colored whiskey cylinder fifth c. 1850s or 1860s. On the bottom it has "DYOTTVILLE GLASSWORKS PHILADA" embossed roundly on the raised base edge, and an iron pontil scar with gray residue. Its color is a knockout yellow-green
. Yellow-green is the best I can describe it, it's not neatly either one. The varying thickness and incredibly bubbly glass texture make it feel like there's really just a bunch of yellow AND green in there in different parts. It does definitely lean yellow If I had to pick, though. Maybe it's just "olive"? But that doesn't really do it justice either if you ask me. It's got a wide & sharp applied double collar lip. It's a bit under 11.5" tall with a little over 3" base diameter :)
It is in never-buried, plainly "attic" condition, and only a 1/4" x 1/8" shallow chip/flake off the lower collar keeps it from being mint. It's minorly worn with surface scratches/scuffs in several spots. Much of the wear is "case wear" scratched up on the shoulder and heel areas by other bottles in transport during use. There is an absolute galaxy of long, stretched and also tiny, seed bubbles, and essentially no stain to obscure your view of them. Have fun twirling it around with some backlighting and admiring the glass character. To say this thing has
    personality is a plain understatement.
Note that this regular TWO (not three) piece mold bottle, without "Patent" embossed on the shoulder, is the slightly earlier Dyottville IP cylinder and one less frequently seen "in color" like this. Satisfaction guaranteed, if you're not in love after handling it in person I’m happy to accept returns.
Shipped via USPS Priority Mail at buyer's expense, or pickup in Northern NJ.
