    Description

This antique porcelain ashtray features a "Goulasch Baron," or goulaschbaronen. These profiteering merchants from Denmark made money during World War I by selling food and supplies to the warring troops, often including canned goulash of dubious quality. The bags and crate of food on this ashtray are marked "Konserve" (canned), "Mjol" (flour), and "Kaffe" (coffee).  The ashtray measures 4-1/2 inches tall, 4-1/4 inches wide and about the same deep. It is in very good condition, with no chips or cracks. There is some wear to the gold lettering on the sides. Bottom is marked simply "Import." Buy with confidence: I guarantee my merchandise to be as represented. Thanks~~Caroline.
