    Description

Antique Figural Shoe/Foot Carved Bone Pipe Tamper
    English * Circa 1800
This fascinating piece is carved of
bone* and was made for tamping tobacco into a pipe. It's not my usual thing but it's an early piece and the carving and glossy patina are lovely
    .
A detailed shoe is at the top of the handle, complete with laces and a sole. The handle has a variety of patterns and even the tamp is ornately carved.
    It
measures 3 1/8" long and the
    condition is excellent with
no chips or loss at all. I've seen a lot of carved pipe tampers in the form of a leg with a foot or shoe at the bottom, but this one is very unusual.
*This item is made of bone from a domestic cow (bovine) and not from an endangered species.
I stand behind everything that I offer and
    guarantee
that it is exactly as presented.
