    Description

Perfectly crafted for a ship; low to the ground and substantially heavy, this silverplate coffee and tea set by Reed & Barton, was made for the US Shipping Board.  The USSB was an emergency agency established by the US Shipping Act of 1916 to increase US ships supporting the WWI efforts.  The program ended in 1934.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents.  There are light surface scratches commensurate with age. All pieces were black with tarnish. I cleaned 2 pieces using the aluminum, baking soda, hot water method to verify condition - they still need a final polishing.
    Included: 18 oz Coffee Pot with attached Lid: 8 1/4" x 3 3/4" x 4 1/4" high.
    15 oz Tea Pot with attached Lid: 7 1/4" x 3 5/8" x 4 3/4" high.
    10 oz Creamer: 5 1/4" x  3 3/8" x 3 1/2" high.
    10 oz Sugar with Lid:  5 1/2" x 3 3/8" x 3 1/2" high.
Weight: 4.5 lbs prior to packing.
All are stamped: REED & BARTON, SILVER SOLDERED 0178-H (fluid oz of the piece) U.S.S.B.
