For all those interested in the history of The Coca-Cola Company this is the first bottler communication on the new sponsorship between the Coca-Cola Company and the National Basketball Association.  In year's past the NBA had been relegated to working the Minute Maid brands.  The NBA wanted to be associated with the flagship brand.  The Coca-Cola Company was able to convince the NBA to work with Sprite because it was more than just a change of pace brand, but a part of the core three brands for the company....Coke, diet Coke & Sprite.  Plus Coke advertising dollars were being split among many different sports properties including the Olympic Games, Baseball, Football, Hockey, and the NCAA to name a few.  Sprite on the other hand would treat this prioperty as its main tie-in and really promote the relationship "Globally".  This was the first book or guide for the field sales force to use for information on joint use of the marks, how to work with the league, etc.  It's a great reference book and historical reference.  It is my only copy and comes with this basketball which was one of the promotional giveaways.  I am the original owner and have had it since 1990.
The insert pages are copied because that is the way it was given to the field to save on printing costs.  The book shows some normal wear and the ball (both roughly 25 years old) could use a little air....but looks great.  See pictures.
