    “Program of Sports” for liner S.S. Vandyck, sunk by Germans in WW1. 4-page folder, 3.5” by 4.5”, with ship illustrated on cover.
    Inside pages list on-board sports for Feb. 12-14,1914, with spaces to write winners’ names. (Spaces are blank.) Events include “Potato Race,” “Spar Boxing,” “Sling the Monkey,” “Chalking Pig’s Eye,” etc.
    The British ship was one of the largest and best-appointed in the Lamport and Holt fleet. On Oct. 26, 1914, two months into World War I,it was captured en route from Buenos Aires to New York by the German light cruiser Karlsruhe. The Vandyck’s more than 200 passengers, mostly U.S. citizens, were removed and the ship was sunk. Condition: used, with smudges and discoloration (yellowing). Shipped free with USPS First Class.
