1855 Braided Hair Large Cent of the slanted %% variety. This example has very nice, original brown color, and smooth, problem free surfaces.
These coins are freshly offered from a collection of Large Cents, Indian cents and Lincoln cents; many of which are already sent off to PCGS for grading and/or authentication and in some cases, restoration. The current listed Large Cents come from a recently acquired collection wherefore the 62-year old gentleman owner inherited these from his Dad who inherited them from his father some 40+ years ago. These coins sat undisturbed in Blue Whitman Albums for the better part of 6 decades prior to my obtaining this collection.
I use PCGS Photograde and The EAC (Early American Coppers Club) standards to
conservatively
offer my opinion of the grade. Please formulate your own opinion of grade based upon the high-resolution images provided.
